Just recently found Lake Bonham and been up there a few times the last few weeks, but wanting to try something different. Anyone have a suggestion on a preference between these two lakes? And, do you have to have permits to get on them (and, if so, can you buy them there early AM)??

Thanks for any information you can pass along. Feel free to PM if you prefer.

They have a pay box at each lake. I believe it's $3. I prefer coffee mill myself. I think most bass fisherman would pick Crockett though with its clear water. Good thing is if one lake isn't working you can be on the other in about 15 minutes.

Pay at park entrance on each.
Both are good, but Crockett is much clearer, basically side by side, so easy to try both.

If you fish alone I highly suggest Crockett. Coffee Mill has one of the most challenging ramps in Texas and NO dock. We fished Crockett yesterday, any plastic bait ( Motor Oil / Chartreuse ) will get bit.

Yes, that ramp was a doozy! Glad there were 2 of us.

Dewey,

Stay on Ferndale. We caught an 8.5 two weeks ago and 20+ 2-5 lbers in just a few hours.
