Try some night fishing. No sun baring down on you. You do not have to put sun screen on. You do not sweat and you burn less energy. Myself and fishing pals Jeff and Steve did some night fishing on lake Placid. We launched our kayaks at a friend of Steve's house located on the east side of the lake. We fished lighted docks. We fished from 10p till around 3am. Caught some nice crappie,Bluegill, bass, and even a couple of Rios. Fish were found feeding by the lights in 12 to 16 feet of water. The crappie were in the 12 to 14 inch range,Bluegill in the 7 to 9 inch range, bass were in the 3 to 4 pound range with a couple of break offs with bass over 5 pounds. The Rios were in the 8 to 9 inch range. Fish were caught on soft plastics. Grubs Chartreuse/Black and plane Purple got the best results. We also picked up some fish mainly Bluegill by a few docks with above water dock lights.Boat traffic was very light. Did not see one boat after midnight. After the trip we pulled a Banker Always Fishing plan and had a early morning breakfast at a local I HOP! food

Nice post Laker. You guys are living the dream.

Side Note: The last time I fished at night hitting lighted docks was on Placid. Caught a bunch of crappie and bass. Also like you stated. Very little boat traffic. Fished during the middle of the week and not on a Friday or weekend.

Thats some good advice! One thing: make sure you have a lit beacon on the yak while youre out there. An unlit kayak can be just as dangerous to your health as that sun and heat can.

Been trying to get more evening fishing in lately. My friend D caught this Smallie on Dunlap last week.

Yes Sir Jagg you are 100 percent right on the money about having a well lighted kayak at night! An unlit kayak or any other water craft is an accident waiting to happen! eeks

Side Note: Nice fish! woot
