I used to like black more, just because they are so much more colorful. But the white seem to be bigger and better eating fish. But pound per pound, I think black are bigger fighters. So I voted �hard to say�, lol. What do you guys say?

I like catching the Hybrid crappie with the black stripe on top of their head! They are the coolest looking IMO.

Black crappie are more fun to catch for me because they seem to be more aggressive and fight harder. Those big white crappie normally just inhale the jig and sit there, while the black crappie will run with it.

Both taste the same in the frying pan

My Go to lake only has White crappie in it. I grew up on Texoma and it was a solid mix. They taste the same.

There is no scientific PROOF that one fish fights harder,more aggressive or taste better than the other! If so ,in the words of the late Biggy Smalls, "Show Me Homie" I`m sick of this. It`s all just opinions. No vote from me. I like em BOTH & neither one more than the other

Per P&W biologists, the one with the stripe running down it's nose is actually a black crappie with a recessive gene giving it the stripe. Commonly called black nose.

Black crappie do fight harder without a doubt. The hardest fighting is a black nose. You catch enough of each and you can tell the difference.

black white after catching hundreds, maybe even thousands,.....it's all even.

In my OP, when I said I thought that white crappie was a �better eating fish�, I wasn�t saying it tasted better. I think maybe some of you took it that way. What I meant by that, the white crappie do seem easier to clean. The white meat for sure taste the same, trimming all the unwanted off the white meat seems harder with black crappie, and seems like every time I mess up a crappie trying to clean it, most of the time it is a black crappie.

I do want to catch some big black crappie though.

I like whites. They're filets are generally thinner...they fry quick and float to the top when done.

I like the different patterns in their color. I really enjoy the tiger stripe ones.

Like to watch the color of the males change in the spring when you throw them into the livewell.
