Retirement is the most underrated thing in the world. Maybe if you got out of the house occasionally you might enjoy retirement

I was shooting for 55, retired at 53.
May you be treated the way you treat other people, today and everyday!

My wife and I have worked real hard, made a few good investments, been able to save a little, and pretty much have enough money now to live out the rest of our lives........... so long as we die a week from Friday! I'm back to work! I heard that one years ago, and loved it.
Actually, I'd like to be completely out by 62 if possible. Too many thing I want to do that I can't behind this desk. When you retire, will your wife make you sell your boat? Actually, gonna make her keep working and get a new one!!!

On pace to do it at 54. Wife will be 51 when she is done if it goes as planned.

I'd love to retire at 55, but with the cost of real property taxes and health insurance is, I need a full time job to help pay those.

As soon as your financial security allows.
Things do not get cheaper because you retire. Trust me on that.
For those who plan to keep working...a cautionary tale. I have known a small number of folks approaching retirement age who have been let go in their 60s. Strive to get your finances ready as early as possible.
Just my thoughts. How much does a person need to retire at 60 if all of his mortgages are paid off? I mean in the bank not including ss and stuff? That is to be able to travel some and enjoy life while you can?

I will retire as soon as I am convinced my money pile will last one day longer than my lifespan.

I'll draw SSA retirement at my earliest 'full' retirement age. But I suspect that I'll always have to work. Trying to set things up where I'll have a heavy seasonal tax business (income tax returns & property tax disputes) and handle other matters as they arise.
Would hope that my average workweek at 70 years old will only be about 20-25 hours, but you never know.
