I noticed that the spare on my trailer started bending down when I stepped on it. Got behind there and found that 3/4 of the beam is rusted out and it's just the outside panel holding it together. Its a tube trailer that came with my '99 Skeeter sx176. I'm afraid this thing is gonna bust apart- could it be welded back together? I'll try to get pics and post them when I get home.

If it's not fixable- where could I get a new trailer and how much would one cost for a 17.5ft boat? Single axle.

Very common for this to happen with tube trailers. Water always gets inside the tubes. Over time the drain holes at the low point of the Cross Beams get clogged with sand and small gravel. Water trapped inside will rust it out quickly. I always stepped over the side when I parked the trail in the lot and checked those drain holds by stick my ink pen up inside to dislodge the silt blocking the whole. It is still just a matter of a few more years before it is falling apart.

I would start looking for a new trailer. There use to be a trailer Adv. running in the Classifieds; but I cannot locate it.

Thanks Donald,
Yeah I'm leaning towards buying a trailer but I'm going to have to find something on the cheaper side. It's an old boat but I've gotta make it work for a few more years and then its upgrade time.

I'm looking at boat trailers online and none of them have any prices- they all say "see dealer"

How much is a new one for a small bass boat? Anyone have recommendations on dealers?

I have a tandem that will work with that boat if interested. You will need to adjust the front winch to fit. I have an 18 foot project boat on it right now.I will take 800 for it and throw in the boat that is sitting under it.

Call this place and they might be able to repair. They repaired a 99 Skeeter trailer for me.

A good welder should be able to fix it for you, I pic would help, it might not be pretty but should last a few more years or at least long enough to find you a replacement,

These guys are legit. They just repaired my 2000 EZ Loader. Once I saw the repair, my first comment was that it would probably outlive the rest of the trailer. Just didn't want to break out a ton of dough for a trailer replacement.

+1. Excellent work. Three years ago, they repaired my 2003 EZ Loader when the rear cross member rusted out.

If its a tube trailer you might want to get under there and inspect it a little closer, corrosion inside the tube is often not visible from the outside.
