2004 Rude Direct injection 225. After motor gets warmed/hot, and I kill the engine, it will NOT start again. Usually happens AFTER a long 15-20 minute run. No alarms, no throttling down, no clicks when turning key on, no starter engaging, no nothing. Wait 10-20 minutes and motor will start and run like a champ. Checked battery connections, (kill switch, but remember when turning key on there is NO sound/spinning starter), and based on the above information, the authorized dealer says it is not the stator! Anyone smart enough to suggest what the answer might be? This first started by the engine actually dying after a long run, but now it simply will not start after a long run, then killing it.

Just a far out guess...could it be a circuit breaker that eventually resets?

With the motor running wiggle the wires going to the ignition switch. Guy had an SHO dying randomly and found a bad wire at the ignition switch. Sounds like it could be the red power wire at the switch or at the breaker or at the battery.

Update to continued problem....AFTER engine has gone 7-8 miles at 50-60 mph and weather and water are hot, I will stop, kill engine, then it will not start again. It will not crank, starter will not engage, no clicks, NO HEARING FUEL PUMP ENGAGE, etc. After approximately 15-30 minutes, engine will start and run as if no problem had ever existed! Boat motor mechanic is stumped! Anyone ever have a similar problem or have any clues what it could be? Thanks in advance!

Just a wild guess. Could you check the motor start battery with a meter both prior to the longer run and after to see if significant voltage difference?
Any way you could change to a different starting battery just as a process of elimination?

Maybe a flaky neutral switch. Or one of the relays in power distribution box flaky.

Scruboak, thanks for your reply! Would a boat motor mechanic probably know HOW to check the relays in the power distribution box? Again, I am not a mechanic, but that sounds like a reasonable problem. My mechanic checked the neutral switch already.

Does sound like a relay. I'm not familiar with that motor but I am familiar with those type relays in trucks and they can drive you crazy. I just get a new one and swap out one at a time and test until the problem is hopefully fixed.

Relays will sometime get loose from vibration or get a bad connection. Sometimes when it fails you can wiggle or pull and put relay back and see if it works then. If bad connection you can clean the blades and I like to put dielectric grease on them when plugging back in....

Had similar symptoms on an '03 225 HO and had to have the EMM/ECU serviced. Are you getting any console lights (low oil, etc.) when it fails to start? Scanned for any DTC codes?

Appears that the EMM/ECU does need servicing. Possibly a heater coil? inside the EMM got hot one or more times and shuts down engine when engine gets slightly warm now. Hoping that I do not have to float a loan to pay for repairs!
