It has been sitting in a puddle of PB Blaster since Sunday morning. I have a socket type allen wrench and a strikable impact. Impact is last resort. Someone said to apply heat directly to the set screw. I am a little concerned about the seals on the hub. If it comes down to heat I plan to wrap the rear of the hub with a wet rag. I have been lightly tapping the hub thinking maybe the vibration will allow some of the PB Blaster to flow along the threads. I am thinking last resort will be to turn the set screw upside down and drill a hole and the use and easy out.

You better heat it. Keep messing with it and you will be drilling it out. Take my word for it. I restored a 1953 Ford tractor.

Yep, if it does not come out with just thr PB Blaster soaking the torch comes out. Neighbor who is a McGyver type thinks the heat should be applied to the hub. Others say directly to the screw.

Put the heat right on the screw. Wrap the seals with a sopping wet rag. The heat will burn the crud out of the threads and it will back right out while it is hot. Be gentle do not force. If it doesnt come, more heat. I have a rosebud and big tanks because of stuff like this.

Agree 100%. Heat on set screw - lots of heat. Work screw back and forth. If needed, tap allen wrench with hammer in each direction. repeat if needed. You will need to heat it hotter than a normal propane torch can get. Rosebud is also what I use.

Looks like it is time for the screw extractor. I have replacement set screws. Next step will be drill but concerned about filings in the hub. I figure if I turn it down I can drill with minimal filings and then flush it several times.

Have you decided not to use heat?

if you drill it, use a left handed(counter clocklwise)bit. i've had the screws come on out after starting the drilling with left hand bits.
