When I make the trip from College Station to Austin to fish Lady Bird, I always fish the same two spots. The first is the blue circle, its connected to a park and you can cast close to the dam. I had a fish hit one of my rods so hard there it ripped it out of the rod holder and into the lake (rip new rod and bite alarm). The red circle is my favorite spot however, because it allows you to face the dam meaning the current is moving straight away from you so that you dont have to worry about it dragging your lines into snags. You cant miss that spot, its right along the biking trail. You might wanna get there early though, as its a pretty popular spot.

I dont know how far youre willing to drive, but Lake Bryan here in Bryan/College Station has decent carp fishing. Ive caught both commons and mirror carp; the first Mirror being earlier today. Also in the B/CS area, Lake Somerville has both Carp and Smallmouth Buffalo.
