Awesome fish. Congratulations on your first Mirror. Side Note: I have never caught a Mirror. Seen them but they would not have anything to do with my bait.

Thank you! I live hardly 10 minutes from the lake I caught him in, and I fish that specific spot frequently (it’s a small, river-like channel that connects the two sides of Lake Bryan) so I hope to catch him again some day in the future.

Congrats on the Mirror! Re-catches do happen frequently with carp so its a definite possibility.

Beautiful fish. Good job. Side Note: Caught my first Common Carp on the fly two weeks ago! It was a BLAST!

Beautiful fish. Good job. Side Note: Caught my first Common Carp on the fly two weeks ago! It was a BLAST! I haven’t managed to catch one on the fly yet. I fly fish mainly with 1/32oz marabou jigs and usually have pretty good luck with white bass and freshwater drum, but no carp. Mind if I ask what fly/jig you caught it on? I actually caught my new PB common from Lake Bryan this evening in the same spot I caught the mirror. He’s no beast, but he put up a good fight!

Awesome fish!!!! I wonder if those mirrors will take a fly. I've caught several commons on flies before but never even seen a mirror in person. I know the area you are fishing but I've only fished Lake Bryan a couple of times. It just seems like the dead sea to me

I know the area you are fishing but I've only fished Lake Bryan a couple of times. It just seems like the dead sea to me It seemed that way to me at first too. The first several times I went out there, I didn’t catch a thing (and neither did anyone else around us). But after trying different packbait mixes, different hookbaits, different methods and a ton of different spots, I’ve gotten where I can usually manage to catch at least one common every time we go out. My girlfriend wades out to waist deep water and freelines either bread or corn and catches blue and channel cats left and right consistently till we leave. I also catch several blues and channels on my carp rigs. The fish aren’t very big, only a few of the catfish we’ve caught were actually keeper size. But in the right spots the bites are consistent.
