Some 20 years ago I was attempting to anchor my sled in an area called Dollar(oyster reef) Reef near the Moses Lake Flood Gates just off the Texas City Levee in Galveston Bay. I always used an anchor chain affixed to my anchor rope and anchor. Some folks don't I know. The wind wasn't blowing all that hard and the current was incoming. I had a Danforth style anchor then and the darn thing wouldn't take hold as it continued to slide along the bottom. Eventually I gave that thing away and was introduced to the best anchor I've ever used. It was a BOYLES anchor. I actually got two of them, one 12# and one 9#. They both ran between $25.00 and $35.00 then. I ended up using the 9# mostly. Are you having trouble anchoring bc your anchor doesn't catch? You folks that use those Power Poles primarily in skinny water...no need to discredit anchors please. I bought both my anchors at Boyd's One Stop Bait & Tackle at the base of the Tx City Dike. Can't tell ya what they cost at that place now. Can't go wrong with these anchors. They catch and hold. I have no pics...sorry. Stay safe out there and remember to Take a Kid Fishing.

Looks like you can get a 9# for $55.00 currently.

I use anchors two to three times per year when deepwater catfishing for big blues. I made my own, they are box type, and I anchor two of them off the bow in a “tee” configuration. The rest of the year is spent on stripers, and spotlock is the big deal then.
