Any of you have success on Spoon this time of year? How do you fish them? Do you lose many fish?

Prime time for me is close; the cool late spring rains have kept water temps cooler and more bait and bass shallower than usual. When water temps get a little warmer, the bait fish will ball up more deeper, with bass in ambush locations under them.
Many ways to fish them Id start simple and position directly over your target Let the spoon fall fill it hits bottom Then one reel of the handle, and vertically jig the spoon
As you get more comfortable, throw out two marker bouys one to the left of your target and one to the right. Cast the spoon as if your are kicking a field goal through the bouy uprights Let it fall on semi slack line Either yo yo it back or reel and pause retrieve.
With big spoons, you will have fish hit the spoon but miss the hook. Some use a stinger hook above the spoon to limit this problem. I like 2X strong sticky trebles on spoonssize 1 and size 2 owner ST-41 is a good option on big spoons

I am a BIG believer in the Spaits spoon. He has been making them for decades at Fork ad he KNOWS what he is doing. I buy the BIGGER spoons and do not miss many fish. GREAT WAY to catch a lot of fish in a short amunt of time, if you can find them eating it. Took a while to figure out how to use it, but once I did, it was a LOT of fun. Hope this helps. Tight lines, keep safe and good luck.
