Hey everyone! I have had a great 2019 fishing year ever since I started using split screen 2D/SI while searching for fish because both have their pros and cons. Rather than relying mostly on 2D sonar to try and identify what fish I'm seeing on the graph as I did in the past, I rely way more on SI and this has consistently helped put fish in my boat even on unfamiliar water. I made a video talking about my approach and show numerous graph examples of what a good area looks like. I figured I'd share it here so hopefully others who may be new or learning can pick up on a few helpful tips. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DKhyc6wFbIw

All good senior , I appreciate your enthusiasm when the learning curve has been shortened. Add a second screen to show your chart whereby you can mark a spot instantly and search without having to change pages.

Would be nice to have another fish finder just for mapping. Luckily Humminbird has shortcut/favorites buttons to save theee of your favorite displays so I just bounce back and forth between those favorites. One is 2D/mapping.

Thanks for posting. I have learned quite a bit, from others posting their graph pictures and explaining some.

Thanks Clay this is what I have been looking for. You seem to focus a lot in the black part of the SI, what do you look for in the white sections if anything?

Thanks Clay this is what I have been looking for. You seem to focus a lot in the black part of the SI, what do you look for in the white sections if anything? I did talk exclusively about the Black part of SI or the water column section in this video. But I always pay attention to whats going on out further, especially in shallower water. Check out this short video of me using that area of SI to successful downrig flats about 18-22 feet deep which should better answer your question. Its funny to hear me say I honestly dont use side imaging very much a year ago when I made that video and now I rely on it the mqnority if the time Im searching for fish with little exception.
