Brent and I fished until 11:30 today and had a ball. Mainly fished submerged trees. Fish hit jigs, minnows, cut bait, minnow pieces, didn't matter they hit it.

I caught a drum and cut the throat membrane out and fished it on a #6 hook and they loved it. Bait floated below a split shot and couldn't feel the strikes at all. Just felt heavy when lifted. Could see them take it in on livescope but could not feel a thing. When the bait disappeared I would just lift and the fish was there.

Most any large submerged tree in 20'-35' water was loaded with crappie and catfish. Some of the largest crappie were flat on the bottom. (as were the catfish)

Brent was filleting his limit of nice fish when I left.

You say he cleaned a limit...a limit of 25 10+ inchers or a limit of 10 12+ inchers?

After thinking about it for awhile I agree the state biologists will monitor the limits and take care of the future. I will personally continue to release most of the fish I catch but leave it up to the individual fishermen to keep legal fish if they wish.

a limit of 25 - 10"+ His choice, he caught them his to keep. (Most were 11" +) fish seem bigger this summer.

I agree with what you said. I hate cleaning fish so when I do I want to clean a lot! I vacuum seal them in servings that will feed my family and freeze them. I will clean fish only a few times a year and throw the rest back. I typically fish until I am overheated, sunburned and tired so cleaning them does not usually sound to appealing...it is necessary for me to just thaw a package when we want fish.
