Looking for some info.. Has anyone put a kayak in on the Blue? Looking to scratch my Smallmouth itch.

Most guys I know wade fish the Blue. Most smallmouth are caught below riffles with small crank baits or small plastics.

We got permission from the game warden to put a kayak in on the blue up in the catch and release section.
Look up the wardens number and give them a call. They are very friendly and lots better to know if they are agreeable before they confront you on the water.
Worked our way around below the small falls and also just drifted a short ways out from the bank.
Caught several small mouth on small crankbaits and rooster tails trolled behind the yak.
Caught them below the falls, big pool right above the falls, near the banks and middle of the river.
It was a long ways to cart the yak but well worth it. Places we were fishing were not places on could wade fish and it was difficult to fish from shore.
There were not a lot of easy places to launch the kayak or easily get in and out of from the bank.
Looking forward to going back and working more of the river.

Thanks for the replies. Part of my kayak idea was to cover more water. I have never been up there so don't know if that is possible

Above Highway 7, the Blue River is a series of small waterfalls. You would not paddle very far before the next set of falls and have to get out. I am not sure how many waterfalls there are below Highway 7.

is this the same area people fish for trout ?

We were above Highway 7. These are near the same areas people fish for trout.
It is hard to wade as the water gets deep quickly and hard to fish from shore because of high banks and hard cast from in the trees,
You will not get long stretches to paddle but can find areas a couple hundred yards or longer.
Working both banks and middle a couple of times will take a bit but you will need to take your yak out and move to the next section a couple times during the day.
