I will be fishing a little club tournament on Hawkins and I have never been there. I have a bunch of general information but could really use some help on Hazards. I hear it is pretty open on the South end, but you need to stay in the boat lane when you go North? Is that still valid? Really just trying to find out if the south end is that open since I will be in the dark. Any other information would be gravy, I would appreciate if someone knows how many, if any, underwater lights I could expect to find?

The lake is small. Idle everywhere

I would never go on a lake in the dark, that I'd never seen in the day.......just me.

South end is open. There is a short boat lanes in the middle of the lake if you decided to head north toward the bridge. Don't go north of the bridge if you have a fiberglass boat, lots of rebar.

There are plenty of fish south of Italian restaurant and running is open in that area. There are no wake bouys on the south end in areas where you would have to worry about stumps.

The cove on your right just before the bridge is full of rebar too. If I were you I would stay south unless you have a graph that you could make your own trail. That boat lane going north is very narrow so if you decide to head that way be very careful.

That is the most dangerous cove in the lake. Stumps everywhere and some random stumps far out almost to the creek channel and boat lane

we launch at 8pm so it will still be daylight. I am probably idling most if not the whole night. The tournament is a club tournament during a full moon and just hoping for low cloud cover. I have a spot light too. I can would like to fish immediately but will probably do a little run down the arms on the south end just to see and idle anytime I get away from the small main lake area. Thanks for the concern.

Yeah, this time of year I really don't see a need to go north, I probably wont even get to the boat lane. I would like to fish underwater lights but will just have to find them. I know our information is very valuable, but if anyone knows of a number of lights I can expect to see if any on Hawkins would be much appreciated.

I don't think I have seen any dock lights. Most dock ends are pretty shallow 4-5 feet. Points and grass. Lots of hydrilla in the lake and pad fields. I am usually off the lake by 10:30 but I haven't had any luck shallow after dark, but that might just be me. You can usually find a fired up school about 8:30 if you are in the right spot.

The evening bite certainly seems better for me than the morning bite. I caught about 10 on a deep water spot including a 6 pounder in about 20 minutes late one afternoon. That lake is very much a grand slam or a strike out for me.

As far as I know there are no underwater lights. In fact, there are pretty much no lights at all. It's maybe the darkest lake I've fished at night.

Awesome fellas, I appreciate the information. I have had a lot of trouble fishing at night. I always can catch and find fish on those lights on Jacksonville, Sandlin, Tyler, Athens, etc... so I will need to find some structure and try and catch some good ones at night. I will have about 30 minutes to fish from about 8 to 8:30 pm before it gets dark, but I also will have sunrise to 8 am since we fish from 8pm to 8am.

Ivie is the darkest i have been on. I swear it's like a black hole. Lol

there used to be a dock with a light down by the dam, leave the ramp head south past the point veer to the right towards the west bank docks, lighted ramp was near the middle.

haven't fished there since TPWD rated it "as a lake with no fish" some where around 2008.

back in the nineties it was go to night lake.
