Taking my wife and daughter to Texoma for a few days of summer vacation. Any tips on depth and areas of the lake that fish are schooling in would be greatly appreciated. Planning on using a throw net for shad early in the mornings and hopefully keep the shad alive or at least fresh enough to catch 8-10 a day at least between the three of us.

Thanks in advance for all replies. We will be staying near the Cardinal Cove area near buncombe creek.

Shad have been hard to come by, if you find some, look for some breaks, and depth changes around the islands. Mostly around 20 ft mark. South side and just east of the east most island. The 20" to 24" fish are easy to catch and lots of them. We had to settle for goldfish and shiners for bait.

Shad have been getting easier to catch, before daylight around the lights at the boathouses is a good start
