Grampy...I have been using a drop shot rig for about 4 months now. I use the VMC drop shot set up. You can buy these on line at Bass Pro Shops & a few other places. The hook is built into the swivel so you get fewer line twists. I believe most people set the hook around 6-8 inches above the sinker, but I like to set it at around 4 inches. I use a 1/8 oz sinker & # 6 VMC hook. The past few trips I have been using 4 lb test line & night crawlers for bait. The only disadvantage with the VMC set up is that they are a pain to tie...so, I pre tie 4 or 5 at home before I go to minimize lost time on the water...that way only one knot is needed when fishing. Hope this helps... [Linked Image]

Great thread. What was the bait please.

I wonder what time of year they spawn.

Give a man a fish, feed him for a day.

Teach a man to fish, he will sit in a boat all day and drink beer.

Hey Vogey,
Love your bluegill posts...ordered hooks and weights! I'm looking forward to murdering some night crawlers and playing with some gills

Vogey, thanks for the info. I’m going to order some of those hooks! I’ll be going to Lake Conroe this coming Tuesday & Wednesday and try them out. As always I really enjoy reading your posts! Fish On!
