Where can I catch fish near Dallas Convention Center? I’m here through Sat morning for volleyball. I brought an Okuma travel rod. I have some plastics. I have a car but no boat so will be shore fishing.

I see Trinity River on the map and White Rock Lake and Joe Pool Lake?

I’d be grateful for any suggestions about where to go and what to use and how to fish it. Thank you!

Depends on the type of fish you seek. The river is not a good choice we have been in flood stage all summer. I would pick Joe pool state park.. However please know all these choices are pretty significant drives.

Bachman Lake by Love Field is an option. There is a trail around it. Plenty of bank fishing spots.

Bachman Lake had a million jumping baby fish but I didn't get a bite on a gold Kastmaster nor a yellow topwater cricket. I was there 7-8:45p tonight because I was in that area. But beautiful to be out there!

Black and blue baits work well at Bachman.
I've had decent luck with white spinnerbaits and chatterbaits.
Senkos work well too

Keep your head on a swivel around Bachman.

Mark C - What does that mean? That my gear will get stolen if I don't watch it?

It's not like it was.

There are still a few homeless people hanging out around the Walgreens and a few questionable folks sitting in their cars around the rec center, but the trail is attracting lots of good, normal people.

I would venture to say it's more like white rock now.

I take my son fishing there all the time. We enjoy it.

I fished White Rock today in the middle of the day. Actually, I just fished the two branches. No bites in the smaller one, on a Kastmaster and a Big Hammer. In the wider one, no bites from bass on the Big Hammer and a Zanko worm, but caught some sunfish on white curly tail grub with small pink leadhead.

Do the bass bite a lot less in the middle of the day? Or should I try something else?

Also, where on White Rock can you access from the shore where the water is deep enough and not filled with tree branches?

As it’s water visibility has deteriorated and bait fish population poached, White Rock has been fishing more and more difficult
