What do you guys think about this rule on Texas Fishing League website?
Admin Change 1/10/2019) Texas Fishing League will have the right to qualify any person or team for one or both championships for any reason.
I sent an email inquiring if this was a typo and the response sent was:
This is not a typo is a rule made for sponsors

Their rules, at least they are up front on them. If they choose to act on this and do something you do not agree with, then don't fish in their events. If enough people quit, they will also lose those sponsors they are trying to please.

Never fished it, but if a comment like we reserve the right to put anyone into the championship for any reason we choose doesnt raise your brow, then theres something wrong with you.

sounds fishy. so they reserve the right to choose who they can put in the championship to potentially win the money and split it amongst themselves......

They had an isssue at the championship last year that was a little shady is the reason for the rule, don’t think I’ll be involved in that mess. There were more issues during the qualifying events in addition to everything that happened at the so called "Championship" which did not even pay what some of the events leading up to it did. I did not fish it last year but my Champs partner did and after everything I heard and then with rules like this cannot figure out what you must be smoking to fish these tournaments......I get the fact that most love to compete in tournaments (me too) but tournament fishing continues to get a black eye (ie, the recent Mike Long fiasco) and we as bass fishermen do not need circuits like this associated with the sport we love so much IMO.

There is no point in qualifiers if this is the rule. My question would be does a qualifier get bumped from championship in order to place a team in the event?

sounds like they don't have enough folks going to the championship so now it is qualifying an if you have an entry fee.

They gotta make room for guys like me that are too busy to fish qualifiers. Id rather fish Bassmaster Opens and just get invited to the championship and so would all my sponsors.

Contestants must pass the polygraph exam at the tournament site to receive prize money, awards and points for the event. The Tournament Director reserves the rights to waive any violation of these rules that are disclosed to him before the polygraph exam, in his sole and absolute discretion.
Wait....what?

Wait....what? I'd hope an example of this is like a minor lifejacket rule or trash flying out of the boat. Minor stuff that comes up in pre polygraph test that you must explain but would never disqualify you
