Well I am glad I started this thread because it actually lead to some great news for us.
This is going out to all Ulterra owners with Generation 1.
Anyone who has an Ulterra Generation 1 knows exactly how bad the Spot Lock is with it.
If we are being honest it's terrible.
You can order a package DIRECTLY FROM MINN KOTA.
PART NUMBER: 2884119 / $566 Total Cost shipped to my house and including Texas Sales Tax.
The package includes a new control board which turns the trolling motor into Blue Tooth Capable.
It comes with a Hockey Puck Bearing Sensor.
It comes with a New Remote.
You the boat owner can install the control board and bearing sensor yourself.
It comes with directions for install.
Once installed and the bearing sensor calibrated you will have essentially turned your Generation 1 Ulterra into Generation 2.
You will have Spot Lock that will keep you in a 5 Foot Circle.
You will have the new jog feature and can jog the boat in any direction in 5 Foot Increments.
For us and the way we fish this is going to be a "GAME CHANGER".
The package was ordered this morning and thanks to everyone who got us pointed in the right direction with this issue.
Very Excited to get this installed next week along with our new cables.
Will let you know how it all goes.
One more thing: Once you order the package there are no returns.

One more thing: Once you order the package there are no returns. Be sure your motor is unplugged from the batteries when doing the upgrade. Glad you are able to move into the future without the need to purchase the entire motor.

Well you're welcome.  Didn't know upgrading from gen 1 to gen 2 was such a secret. Terrova is not upgradable, thats why I got a new one. Other models might be, call MK. I assumed Ulterra would be since it is top of the line.

Will they have an upgrade for the earlier Terrova? I have one of those and the spot lock is awful. I refer to it as wonder around and release. If I can't tie up to something I can't fish.

Will they have an upgrade for the earlier Terrova? My 2014 model is not, pretty sure that is the case for all gen 1 Terrovas, but call MK Im not sure.

Nice trip! LOL Sounds like something that would happen to me. But, as they say, a bad day on the lake is better than a good day in the office, unless you are a professional fisherman, if so you are just screwed! haha.
