Myself, Rick aka Catyakker, and Jamie aka J-Moe fished two complete days with the Texas Parks&Wildlife Department. We fished deep in the hart of the Nueces Canyon,"God's Country". Don Cash and Kyle Banowsky were the filming crew from the Texas Parks&Wildlife. They also flew their Drone for Ariel views. The days started at sunup and went till around 4:30pm. Fishing with cameras all around you from both land and in the air is an experience all in it's self. The days of fishing paid off. We did have to work for what we caught. Rick and Jamie fished from the fly and I was using my trusty ultralights with the "Bait Of Champions" worms. I was mainly using the float due to heavy weed beds. We fished Camp Wood Creek, Montel Creek,Nueces River, and the West Prong Nueces River . All of the water bodies are in great condition due to all of the past and current rain fall. Rick started the record count the day before the filming. He caught the State Private Water Body Fly-Rod Record Rio Grande Cichlid on a private pond. The fish weighed .64 Lbs. There were bigger Rios in the pond but getting them to bite was a different story. Jamie lit up the record board and caught the Fly Rod Record Large Mouth Bass,Camp Wood Creek,Fly Rod Record Redbreast Montel Creek, and the Fly Rod Record Channel Catfish from the West Nueces River. I completed the record count with a Rio Grande Cichlid record off of Montel Creek,a Tilapia Record on Montel Creek, and a HUGE Rio Grande Cichlid Record off of the West Nueces River. The Rio was 11.25" in length, girth 12" and a certified weight of 1.45 Lbs. Most of the fish were caught on camera by the filming crew. After the final day of fishing was over a sit down interview was completed on the bank of the West Prong Nueces River. Getting some great record catches with two great friends while filming with the Texas Parks&Wildlife, It Just Don't Get Any Better! fish

Wow, excellent report Banker. As you have said, it sure makes a difference fishing under the gun of a Camera. Stand here, and stand there, and test, test, test on the Mic. You and O'l J-Moe sure didn't let the pressure bother you two, stacking up the records. Congratulations on a job well done coordinating every detail to make our adventure a success. Oh, and also Kudos for all the record fish you caught. soldier

Great post and pictures Chuck. I can't thank you enough for including me. It was an experience of a lifetime and a great time spent with you, Rick, Don and Kyle. Fishing some of the most beautiful rivers, seeing you catch a monster Rio and Rick catching a State record Rio just added to the enjoyment. Congrats Rick on the state record. Those Rios in that pond were impossible to catch but you managed to do it, well done.

Records should not apply to private land where the public cannot fish. I am not impressed.
