I tried watching videos and searching, but could t find any good pictures of bass on side scan. I know what to look for on down scan, but would like to see some examples of what to look for. Thanks in advance.

Rice krispies is what bass look like on side scan. Theyre going to look like a little rice shape, then youll see a very small gap between the fish and the ground and then youll see the shadow. Guaranteed fish. Unless they are absolutely glued to the bottom you wont see the shadow but youll still see the little rice krispie. If there are fish on structure you would expect to see a bass on and you see that little rice krispie out to the side you can bet your bottom its a bass.

Now, I know thats an HB unit but its very much a similar look on the HDS Gen 3 units. I would know, I run them. However, keep in mind that those rice krispies are probably muskies which are much bigger fish but that rice shape, then bottom of the lake, then shadow is the exact same look for bass just a little smaller.

One 10-pounder is better than ten 1-pounders; but 100 1-pounders is ok too!

Whatever they may be, I just pulled this image from a video and the fella said muskies. Regardless of what those fish are the return on side scan is the matter of topic.

Same thing here. I think HB has much better screen resolution for side-scan and down-scan than does Lowrance.

I have never seen that many muskies in one spot. I would think Musky would be a longer shadow than shown in that picture.

Most likely your transducer location or some sort of interference.
