I'm looking at extending my front deck all the way back to the console on my WeldCraft 17.5'.

Right now I'm looking at using 1x2in rectangular aluminum tubing for my cross beams with 1x2 columns at two mid points for support.

The extension will be 44" long and 46" wide. Do you think that 4 or 6 cross beams would be needed?

Also, I was planning on using .1" plate for my decking surface. From what I have read that seems to be the norm.

I'm planning on having a fab shop weld it together after I fit the pieces and fabricate my hatches.
I'm in the ETX/Shreveport area. Does anyone on here have any references on fab shops in the area?

Thanks for the help. Just moved to the area and am trying to find people that do fab work is tough, because most of their advertisement is by word of mouth.

I'm in the Tyler area which is likely too far west for you. But I had modifications done to a pontoon boat by Prolific Welder. He did a good job. Let me know if you need more information.

That would be great if you don't mind sharing it. I work in Kilgore, so it wouldn't be too far.

I'm trying to basically have them weld together the deck supports and the aluminum deck that I would have prefitted, but they would have to fabricate the hatches.

Email or call. He's located south on Hwy 177 towards Noonday in one of those light industrial business centers where multiple businesses are located. Call, he picks up right away.

Thank you, I sent him an email and got multiple responses in the same day.

Seems like he is on top of it.
