I have been home from work dealing with a raging sinus infection.
Started Antibiotics last Wednesday and finally started feeling better Sunday.
I know it is allergy season, but when it morphs into a sinus infection those are no fun.
Forecast yesterday was for the wind to NOT be blowing like a hurricane. We had those wicked storms on Sunday evening.
Dad was feeling well enough to try a trip so we set out for the Lake.
Anyone who knows us can usually find us fishing concrete somewhere because it is easy and it is in the shade.
When we first got to the lake yesterday the tail end of that front was blowing through and the sun was coming up. The result was white caps on the lake.
We could not fish our normal location so we decided to go find some trees out of the wind only there was no getting out of the wind.
I kid you not the wind was out of the South, Southwest, Northwest, East, Southeast...we saw it all yesterday. Crazy!
It was better than main lake so we decided to give it a go anyway.
It was a two man operation with my Dad trying to keep the front of the boat pointed into the wind with the trolling motor and then me using the big motor to help hold us in position.
We started fishing and we started catching when we could hold the jig still long enough to get a bite.
We also lost probably close to 30 jigs yesterday because we would lose control get hung up and break off while losing control. The wind blew and blew and it was a rolling.
We both laughed about it because we lost more jigs yesterday on one fishing trip than we have in over a year of fishing.
Hey if your not losing jigs your not Crappie Fishing at least that is what they say.
The wind actually settled down around 10am and then the lake became like a mirror. We could have used that about 3 hours ago and 30 jigs ago.
The bite was actually better when it was rolling in all honesty. When the lake settled down to be like a mirror the bite virtually disappeared.
I put a picture of the jig colors we were using. Believe it or not that pink and blue was the number 1 producer. We caught fish on all 4, but the pink and blue was slaying them. Pepto for Crappie.
We rolled up on this one tree and we immediately pulled 4 Crappie off the tree. I was fixing an issue with my rod tip and looked up and dam near fell out of the boat.
What the heck...Those are BEES!!!!!! That will wake you up!!
I took a short video and grabbed some pictures and then we...BOLTED!
Check out the Lower Right of the picture I actually captured one BEE mid flight. Kind of cool I was able to get that on a picture with my iphone.
I sure am glad they were not those aggressive ones that just attack. Plenty of people have died from those type of bees. I will be more vigilant as we approach a tree from now on I can tell you that much.
Then to top off our day I went to throw the boat into reverse and it did not go into reverse. I looked back and our throttle control cable was snapped right where it goes into the engine.
I sure am glad it was reverse that broke and not forward or that would have been a whole other adventure.
We are officially out of commission until we can get that repaired. We are going to replace both cables because the other one is probably not far behind.
I snapped a quick picture of the Live Well and we ended our excursion with 33.
We were both happy we got to go spend some time together.
Sorry I do not have some better pictures to post.
If you are going BEE CAREFUL OUT THERE...
Tight Lines to All of you!!!
