Strike King makes a Magnum Trick Worm and they claim that the tail floats so you might try one of those. I've caught some good fish using them.

Never test the depth of the water with both feet.

They don't float at all. I tested some out last week in my pool with a 3/4 oz. shaky head with a flat bottom and they still fell over. That was the 10.5 inch straight worm. I wouldn't not buy them just because they do not float. They are have a huge profile and should get you a big bite.

Frank.....never heard of it, but will check it out. Heath makes some good stuff for sure!

As far as big worms and floating, you'd be surprised at how many actually float when fished deep. Not in a fish tank or bath tub.

Longest worm I ever used was a custom made 14" worm. I told a worm gjy to surprise me. It weighted almost a pond by itself. It was semi soft, so I used a double hook rig and threw it out. Caught a 3.5 lb bass on it. Go figure. It DID work, though. Only 1 hook in him. Tight lines, keep safe and good luck.

What color ?

Red bug, Plum, or Cranapple. All 3 will get you bit.

And like Collincountytx said above. Don't forget about the 12" buzz worm by MT as well. Same colors as above.

I thought Cranapple was the early name for what now is called Red bug. Are they different colors? Plumb was the reddish color plastic with blue glitter in it and Cranapple was the reddish color plastic with green glitter in it, but that was many years ago.

Zoom has plum apple also. I use it for ol monsters instead of redbug. Also, grandebass has a really good trickworm with floating tail.
