Personally i love kayaks. I have always had the opinion that in a boat with a motor you are kind of cheating. Paddling to your catches is more like earning it.

No way I would buy that boat. Way too small. This is a modern day one person bass buster.
You get out of it what you put into it!

The johnny boat is cute, but I'll stick with my NuCanoe. I'm with Christian on this. Much rather paddle.

I grew up fishing from a 15 foot Coleman Canoe with my dad. Had a 20 ft bass boat through the late 90's through 2010 and got tired of only being able to use it a couple weekends a month, paying storage fees, charging batteries, keeping up a trailer etc, etc, so I sold it and took to bank fishing.
Got tired of bank fishing and sat down to think long and hard between a canoe, kayak or something in the Bass Raider/Pond Prowler/Johnny Boat etc class.
I went with a peddle kayak (Old Town Topwater 106). I can peddle 3.7 mph all day long without getting tired. I can paddle when I need to (like in water less than 10"). True hands free fishing...I find myself a lot when I hook a fish close to a lay down or stump backing up to keep the fish out of cover. Fits in my truck bed with no bed extender. Throw it on a C-Tug cart and I can take it any place with a path to shore...don't need a boat ramp. Don't need a trailer. No gas, no batteries to charge, no registration required. Best of all I can use it on bodies of water like LBL that don't allow gas engines, or community lakes like Brushy Creek or Devine Lake that don't allow anything but manual propulsion.
Johnny boat is intriguing, but I'll stick to a kayak.

Personally, I would go with a Bass Raider if you're wanting something with a motor. The Bass Raiders are very stable and a proven platform. Also, you can mount the trolling motor to the front of the boat which allows more precise movements through tight timber/cover. https://www.academy.com/shop/pdp/pelican-bass-raider-10e-102-pontoon-boatHowever, I agree with Christian and John. There is a satisfaction to paddling (in my case pedaling) to the catch. Also, the simplicity of it all is nice too (i.e.: no charging of 50lb batteries, no fueling up, etc) Just my two cents. Good luck with your search and purchase!

When it comes down to it, these are just tiny boats. Still need registration, still require engine maintenance, gas motor requires fuel, electric motor limits your time and distance. Been there and done that, at the moment I never plan on going back.

I looked at a solo skiff before I bought the Hobie. https://www.soloskiff.com/fishing-kayak-specifications/ I already have a 16' Lund walleye boat if I really want to play with a motor, but just love the peace and tranquility without the motor. Like the others said, I can fish skinny water that the bigger boat can't get into with a kayak though and there is that certain satisfaction of doing it all with human power. Pick what you think will be the best for you. Now instead of running a power boat a half hour plus to a fishing spot, I just launch a whole lot closer to where I want to fish. Life is good.
Many go fishing all of their lives without knowing that it is not the fish that they are after. Henry David Thoreau

The jonny boat will appeal to people who want a motorized kayak or a skiff which allow covering larger areas of water, multiple spots, and still is light enough to car-top, small enough to garage-keep. Not a bad design.

I am not like others who say i can fish skinny water because i have a kayak. I like saying to the big boats " i can xatch anything you can catch" i like the fact that the playing field is as close to equal as it can be. My amazing amanda says because its real, because its just you and no one else is involved, its genuine. Its truth. Its honestly you vs the fish. Anyone can chase a fish down with a bunch of fish finders and a motor, it takes skill to manage a paddle, a kayak and a fish. Its the hunt.

I'm not going to knock it! I can see a lot of possibilities for the design, so I'm not going to say it won't appeal to some people. I say this as once owning a pond hopper many years ago, when a canoe was what you wanted if you paddled, and kayaks were only used by the Eskimos.
Just one more cast!

Theres boat folks and kayak people. Ive taken a few boat lovers kayak fishing over the years, they used a spare kayak, and they pretty much hated it. Too much work, never could get comfortable, now we have to paddle back!!
I feel like I can now more or less predict whether or not a particular person will like kayaking. Negative indicators are they like hobbies or activities where power tools or powered vehicles are featured. A second not looking good for kayaking trait is they would not be caught dead doing anything resembling exercise. If someone is like in the vein of any and all activity must be done in relation to something otherwise productive, mowing the lawn, building a fence, etc. then kayaking will likely not be something they will like. An overall lack of curiosity, a I know everything that needs to be known attitude, would be another trait that doesnt bode well for the kayak. Set in their ways people arent generally ones that are going to like kayaking. If they show up to the launch in blue jeans, I know Im in for a long day.
There are folks that like both, boats and kayaks, Im one of them. On a solo trip, Im much more inclined to take a kayak. The kayak feels liberating for me and mechanical stuff, motors, electronics, are some of the things I want an escape from when I kayak. I do like the range I can cover in a boat, but Id much rather fish from a kayak. Anyone that has a boat here on the coast will spend a significant chunk of their time troubleshooting fuel system, electronic, trailer and other mechanical issues that plague boats exposed to saltwater. I dont know anyone that doesnt lose a big portion of the year to getting the boat up and running. Boats hate sitting unused for any length of time. Thats a guarantee for trouble.
Paddles really dont break down. Most of the people in boats I see fishing here arent into fishing as much as they are into riding around. They pull up under full power to a spot, toss the anchor as high and far as possible to make as much noise as possible, have the stereo on full blast, and then fish about 10 minutes before pulling anchor and heading off to the next spot. The boats ability to cover water becomes a handicap because they never learn to fish and look for fish sign or any have stealth or ability to slow down and observe what is happening. Its ADD behavior at its finest.

At 10 ft it looks a little/lot squirrely with the outboard. But with a 2.5 hp it's about like running a trolling motor to help someone get to their fishing hole. Then use their paddle to fish. Maybe in a 12 footer it would be more stable and a better fishing platform.
