Fellas, if this has been brought up before, I apologize, so please bear with me. I bought the waterproof/floating cell case. That stays around my neck. My biggest concern. Key fob for the pickup. Worried if it gets wet it'll be toast. So, being the cheapskate I am, emptied a plastic jar of peanuts. Filled it with rocks and dumped it in our hot tub. Floats and water tight.

So if we turtle will still have access (I would hope)to my keys.

Also stuffed several fun noodles inside the hull. They weigh nothing and never know if they might be needed.

Any other innovative stuff ya'all have done? If so, I'd love to hear them.

The peanut butter jar does the trick! Recently someone posted instructions on how to glue/screw a plastic cashew jar lid to the bottom of a round hatch (the cashew jar was relatively shallow and fit the hatch perfectly). I found the post, but the link to the instructions is dead.

A ziplock bag with a bit of air left in it works as well (this is what I do)... its a little more compact to stow.

After losing a scale on the Brazos river while trying to weigh my personal best Largemouth Bass, I bought another scale and cut down a pool noodle to fit over the scale handle. I attached it with a couple of zip ties.

I have a pair of Aluminum pliers with a coiled up lanyard which is clipped to an eyelet on the kayak. It's not a float, but they won't be a part of my next yard sale when I flip the kayak. Before that, I had the pliers attached to a float similar to what you might see on a Boga Grip.

I don't worry about my truck electronic key getting wet. I leave it hidden in the truck. I carry on old school metal door key which only unlocks the truck door. There are no issues if it gets when and I keep it stored in my PFD pocket along with an emergency whistle and fishing license.

I lost a GoPro Hero Black 4 this spring. Another hard lesson learned. I leash everything these days. There is a reason that many kayakers sing to the tune of: "Rig to flip, dress to swim"

Sometimes when i go paddling and fishing i dont wanna come back. Might be ok if i lost my keys. Hahaha

Use goop it will peel off if needed.

I use a bigger container for wallet keys . Make sure it fits when u shut the latch.
