Searching for a new motor for the boat. A power head blew that had 105 hours on it. Yamaha was no help and will not stand behind there new power heads.Yes is was put in 2 years ago but the hours are not that many. 100 hours and gone again. With the price of a power head and labor to install is almost as much as a new motor and no warranty to speak of, if parts are that high why not stand behind the high dollar parts. At least a new motor has some warranty that will take care of issues.
Looking for a 250 4 stroke Yamaha. any ideas where to start. Any in stock around central Texas.

Have talked to insurance as well. We can not live without it but you feel like you are on trial when you talk to an adjuster.

thanks for any help.

I seem to remember seeing 250 SHO 4 strokes listed for about $16K so I would have a hard time spending 3/8's that on a powerhead! hmmm

I am running a Honda 4 stroke for the dependability that it has for the same reasons that you stated. Go to the BBC site and the Honda Motors forum and contact the sight moderator,Hickory Legion. He deals with new Hondas and if I remember correctly a new 250 4 stroke with controls, 5 yr warranty and free shipping was around 16,000.

I bought my boat used with the Honda motor on it with less than 100 hrs, however it was already out of warranty because of the age. I bought it in 2012 and the boat and motor were 2003. Its on a Ranger 521 and the motor is a 225 Honda. I haven't had to do anything except change a oxygen sensor, plugs and change the oil. There is a Honda service located in Temple on I-35, but I have never had to use them cause I have done what little work that was needed myself
