Planned to go out this afternoon but the weatherman said it was we were going to have severe storms. Why are they so bad at their job? If I was that mediocre I would be fired in a heartbeat.

They were pretty spot on around north McKinney . Weather predicting is damm sure a lot better than it was just a few short years ago .

All I need for weather predictions is Accuweather and Windfinder apps on my phone . Dont worry about watching the tube. And I use my radar to look where the storms are headed.

I don't trust weather predictions, and never have. I don't care what anyone says, you can't accurately predict the weather.. It can go south on you in a split second.

The forecast lets us know how weather aware we need to be... ultimately watching the radar is what determines if Im going to fish or not.

They are pretty good at predicting the wind. But the rain and storms, no so much.

Not sure what weatherman you watched but when I read the detailed forecast discussion about 1:00 yesterday, it was pretty clear that most of the initial development would be around 5:00 and be to the East and North of DFW before additional development occurred later in the evening. Pretty much played out just like that.
It's pretty easy to read the detailed forecast discussion and get a feel for whats going on, but it is a little technical. An even easier read would be the hazardous weather forecast on the front page of forecast.weather.gov page if there is one listed for that day. It tends to give simplified forecasts related to severe weather threats and generally includes timing, location and what they are expecting.

I think they did a great job at making us aware of the possibility of severe weather. I was able to watch a supercell form a hook and within that hook was a rotation, that formed into the tornado that was headed straight towards our house... it turned SE and went 5 miles south of our house, as we watched online from the tornado shelter. Greenville took a hit from it, along with east texas RV park.
BTW> i was able to go fishing yesterday, and made it home 2 hours before the storms started forming.

Watched Delkus last night and he had video demonstrating the Cap he always talks about. It was fascinating watching the storms try and fire and then just stop as it it the layer of warm air. It's why we got very little in the city. I really think he knows his stuff. I think Mother Nature also has a nasty curve ball...

Go with the Indian weather rock...if you have ever been to Boy Scout camp you know what that is. If the rock is wet, it is raining, if the rock is hot and dry, it is sunny and warm, etc...
See you on the lake and have a great day!
