grew up near waco and always fished freshwater large mouth bass and catfish in stock ponds. now living in portland, tx and ready to hit the waters wading. recently hit copano retreat road between the four way stop sign between sinton and rockport. believe it is a kayak launch aransas county.

would love to hear other peoples choices on where to wade. pretty much a catch and release guy. any lure suggestions as well.

i did fish the pier between port aransas and aransas pass last night and came away with 2 keepers. both 16 inches...nothing too big on that pier. lots of trout, just hardly any keepers...

Do yourself a huge favor and lessen the saltwater fishing learning curve. Get the Troutsupport videos. All four of them. You will learn more than in a year of being on the water.

Yes the Troutsupport Grass Walker is the best lure to come to saltwater fishing since the spoon.

Beware saltwater fishing will make you wanna throw rocks at those bass.

Plus 1 in the Trout Support videos. IMO the TSL Grasswalker and maybe a gulp shrimp are the only lures you really need. Okay maybe a topwater too. I like the birthday suit color. Haven't tried the newest color yet.

You get out of it what you put into it!

The TSL Grasswalker is a real weapon. I love throwing it on a shallow grass flat. Redfish attack this lure unlike anything I've ever thrown. On several occasions it's felt like the rod was going to be snatched from my hands. Houdini is my favorite color. I love the TSL as a sight casting bait because you can work the entire water column with it slowly. Go find a flat on a high/rising tide and have your drag set properly.

Also get the Troutsupport videos. I learned more than I could have imagined, and put it to work immediately. They doubled my catch rate, and now I fish very confidently. Tobin will answer any questions you might have, and he really wants us to catch fish. Tight lines and good luck.

I grew up in Portland, we fished the back bay alot
Given that you are in a kayak and with typical winds I would be looking at fishing the protected area on the right sight of the causeway as you are headed towards Corpus
