It sure does produce easy results almost every time! I took my neighbor out to catch a batch of crappie after dark. The size wasn't there at first, but we managed to put a few nice ones in the live-well. I went back out the next night with jigs and had an absolute blast, off camera (it's always when I don't bring the cameras that the fish go wild).

Yes, when the bite shut off I may have decided to mess with a gar. Can you blame me? I love catching crappie (it's like grocery shopping for men), but I also needed to end the night with something that would fight a little.

Check out the video if you're into that sort of thing. I'm really trying to grow my channel, and trying to create more entertaining content. I'd really appreciate any sort of feedback that might improve my skills, or any advice y'all can give me.

Thanks y'all!

Wow, Great night of fishin'. . . What type of light were you using for the fish attractor?

Out on this lake, and several lakes in Texas, the residents will install underwater lights at varying depths. I've found the deeper lights, around 20 - 30 feet, usually produce more fish. I'm not sure of the brand. Basically I was just hopping from light to light. There are literally hundreds of them on Lake LBJ. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful about the brand!

A couple of those look short...

That's interesting! I've never heard of folks having those lights installed at depth. Great info. thanks!

Nice job. I've fished those LBJ lights before; seeing tons of fish, but catching none of them. Congrats! Tim

Nice catch. Since when is using lights to attract bait that attracts predators cheating. Is using jigs cheating, or minnows. Do whatever legal method you prefer. All's fair in love and fishing or something like that.

Check the video out! Caught a ton of under-sized crappie. Measured everything that was close. There is one there that is spot on 10". I was considering tossing him back, but he was hooked deep and wouldn't have made it. I think the reason a couple look so small is because the bigger ones there were about 15".

It just feels like it's way too easy, but I'm not complaining. I do like that, though, "all's fair in love and fishing". I might have to start using that line. I mean, the goal is to trick the fish into grabbing your hook.

Thanks!

This time of year , night fishing is key. Too hot and too many sea fleas on area lakes.

Be careful handling that gar with bare hands. It’s not the teeth you have to worry about, it’s those ganoid scales. They can slice you right open.

Good fishing though!
