Interesting article on the increase in snook population.

The solution to any problem - work, love, money, whatever - is to go fishing, and the worse the problem, the longer the trip should be. --John Gierach

Hey, I am in the select group of anglers. Caught one at Packery Channel years ago. In fact, I took a picture of it on my flip phone. Thats how long ago. Also hooked a tarpon for about 5 seconds. One jump and gone. When the line broke, it shot the popping cork over the jetty and landed on the gulf side.

Back about 2012 or 2013 I caught several juvenile snook castnetting bait at the mouth of the Colorado River. At about that same time they had three snook in the aquarium at the Brazoria County Park at SLP; they said they were castnetted off the bulkhead there.

Snook are here. One friend has caught several in East Matagorda bay over the last couple of years. Another friend caught one here in Brazoria County and jumped another. My daughters boyfriend caught one here. Other reports of multiple catches from different fishing folks here.

I cast at a school of 12 or so last summer, big snook, 28-30, had two follows but no commitments.
