If you had to compromise and run only one rod for 1.5 square bills to dd22’s what would you suggest. I have a square bill tied on much more often than a deep diver, but not committed enough to have a dedicated deep crank only setup.

Big Dodyns fan but I don’t think I’d be fishing my little squarebills on my 805. DD22’s? Perfect!

MajorCraft nanoace 7.5MH cranking rod. Check out Tackle Depot in Weatherford or FunNSun for a selection of rods. The TTO second place winners each receive one as a prize and have received great feedback from them.

LOL, throwing a 1.5 square bill on an 805. Now that's funny.

Dont think there is such thing as a rod that would be effective at squarebills and 10XDs. The difference is just too vast. Building a phenix X13 at the moment that would cover a wide range but not that wide.

I use a Dobyns 705 for square bills and a Dobyns 805RB for anything that dives deeper than 6ft. I agree that 1 rod wouldn't cover that entire spectrum effectively. If I did have to only have one it would be the copper colored G. Loomis crankbait series 843 mh. Problem is they no longer make this rod but might be able to find one in Stock at some tackle shop.

I have the 805CB and it’s a finenrid, but for all around I prefer the Powell endurance 7’5”. You can pick them up on sale for $129. It handles square bills all the way up to 6xd’s and DD22’s with ease

I don’t ever see my self throwing the 10xd but the 5/8oz DD22 seemed like a much more reasonable feat.

I’ve got the 7’ Trap Caster with the same MH MF Action, would the additional length be a signify to advantage?

I would look at this ^^^^ or the Daiwa Tatula, or the FX Custom cranking rod. All are in the 7.5 foot range in length.
