My dad is home from Afghanistan where he worked as a contractor with the military, so now that he is back I'm looking into a striper or crappie trip on PK Granbury or Whitney. Any guide recommendations? Costs?

Depending on half to full day trips in the $300-$600 range. For Lake Whitney, Clay Yadon (sp?), Randy Routh, or Pat Small. Randy Wood posts on hear all the time and fishes PK. Theres another PK guy who posts on here too.

Unfortunately PK is a mess right now. Call one of the Whitney guides.

More Respect for randy Wood after this. I watched "Reel on This" guide in Neely slough yesterday with some clients sitting in the sun probably over a big school of stripers not catching a thing. Happened to me as well. I could find them but they can't see the bait. The ones I catch are pretty skinny too.
Shad are getting brave in this water. Saw them flipping and all over the surface at the Marina. They wont be having that party after the water clears and the Stripers rule the lake again.

Lots of debris floating in Granbury again. I had to move a 12 ft long tree off of my dock yesterday. Having said that, the water color looks better than it has in two months.

I fished Neel slough last week end and it was full of bait... Large mouth bite was good however, surprised me they were hitting plastic worms and some top water. Going to striper fish this week end, hopefully find a few fish. When did the start remodeling the marina?

Bjank: It does not surprise me that you found Neely full of bait. I saw the shad doodling on the surface in the evening when I walked my dog down at the swim beach. With the stripers blinded by the cloudy water shad are free to roam and do what they want. Once the water clears a little they will be running for cover. Bait has been easy but it's hard to catch stripers because they cannot see it. I caught a few dangling 5-7 inch threadfins in schools of stripers along with a few big sandies that could take shad that size. Normally, I would not get two poles in the water once I find a big school of stripers and drop live shad into them. With this muddy water, it's a tough gig.
Been a few weeks on the remodeling of the Marina at the cliffs. Due the the property owners fight with the Cliffs ownership the marina was sold to he owners of Bluff Creek. The bathrooms have been redone and are very nice. I hope and expect them to fix the courtesy dock once they are done with the ship store. Bad news for people visiting the cliffs is the new ownership now requires a $25 launch fee for non property owners.
