I had a very light wire hook/small plastic I wanted to experiment with, needed something finesse to cast it well, so I tied it on a G-Rods "trout" spinning rod I own with very light braid on the reel, walked down to the dock and made some casts, caught some bass. I hadn't used this rod in some time, forgot about its unique feel, plan to use it more often for finesse applications going forward.

So, I went over to the company's website just to see what's up, noticed that quite a large majority of its rods are "sold out" and I just haven't heard much on this forum or elsewhere regarding thoughts on G-Rods.

A friend told me some time ago they are very popular and being sold overseas, hence the poor inventory here.

Curious if any others here are using them, their thoughts, observations.

Not a plug, no affiliation with the company or any other for that matter.

I'm referring to G-Rods International out of Plano.

Several years ago, the company began building some of the first rods to utilize graphene which is a one carbon atom width "skin" or fabric with exceptional strength characteristics.

Again, most are "sold out" so I'm curious if any buyers are on TFF, might share their opinions.

I have a couple I bought for crappie fishing. They work great, very sensitive, very strong. I really like them.

I have a buddy who swears by them, and all he does is send me pictures of nice fish.

I've been using his rods since the first production came out and cant say enough good things about them. Glen Miller is his name and he is a great guy and has put a lot of time and money in dailing in these rods and making a great product. I was told a couple weeks ago another shipment is supposed to be coming in soon and more rods will be available shortly.

I'm a big fan of these Graphene infused rods. I stumbled on them when I bought a 100$ 7' crappie rod years back on a tip from some crappie guys at Fork, that ended up bumping my 300$ Dobyns Champion Extreme to a back up. Strong, light and VERY sensitive.
I have sense bought 5 of his Bass rods that replaced more Dobyns and G. Loomis IMX rods. Look no farther than the 7'6" MH Pro Bass, that one is a beast. I heard that Glenn will be releasing some bass rods with cork. I wanna see those come out, I'm not a big EVA fan, but the blanks are so nice I can overlook that. Glenn knows his stuff when it comes to substrates and components he chooses for his rods, that's his background.

Thanks, everyone, for the follow ups, experiences. Ya'll confirm that these are rods worth considering for any new higher end purchases.

I took mine back out yesterday afternoon and, again, I really enjoyed using it.

I was trying to think of an analogy, then one popped into my head, that the feel of various rods in terms of how they cast, sensitivity, etc. is somewhat like the differences between acoustic guitar string sets you can buy. When you get dialed in to a proper rod for certain circumstances, it really feels good.

So, I again was throwing a very light wire Owner EWG 1/0 hook that comes with the centering pin, and to this a very small Keitech 3" Shad Impact or a similarly small Zoom Fluke. And, my casts were covering a lot of water.

The whole operation was, no doubt, helped by using 2 lbs. Nanobraid which is as think a spider silk but still better results for the length rod I was using than any other in my arsenal.

A trout rod, mine, so I'd want to power up a bit for bass, might consider a 7 footer in a M power, spinning rod some time in the future.

Glad he is able to sell through his rod inventory, a good sign that these graphene based rods are here to stay.

Brad
