I'm planning on heading to the lake tonight after work to try and catch some sandies. Any advice? I'm gonna grab some medium shiners and also take the cast net and try shad. I'm assuming to fish some lights but if there's an area I should check out it would be appreciated. I'll be launching from Eagle Mountain Marina. Just trying to catch some to fill the freezer so I'm not asking for any secret spots or anything Thanks!

Lights on windblown points have been producing well. I'm using White Hot Thump Buddies on 1/16 or 1/8 ounce unpainted heads, casting across the light in to the shadows, letting the jig hit bottom and reeling in as slow as I possibly can. The goal is to keep the jig relatively close to the bottom. Minnows will definitely work, but just about any crappie jig will produce just as well if you don't want to spend the cash on shiners.

Dumb question but what is a, white hot thump buddy? I was going to conduct a google search on it but reconsidered.....

Went out the past 2 nights and have caught two limits each night. Dragging 1/8oz bonehead jigs in a natural color were killing them on the lights. Had to find the right lights as the ones I caught them on Monday night, I didnt catch but a handful on Tuesday night. It was a great time and an awesome way to break in the new fillet knife. Thanks for the help everyone!

Blayne and Randy, White Hot (white and chartreuse) Thump Buddies are jigs made right here in Texas, that were designed back in 2010 to meet my needs as a full time guide. They will last 40-50 sandies before having to change them out. If you use super glue, you can get well over a hundred per jig. Everything we make is UV enhanced and scented with garlic and shad oils.
Google away, our products come up first.

Please tell how you add the white hot lure to the thump buddy and do you use the thump buddy with the spinner?

Hey Bobb, White Hot is the color (white and chartreuse), and the Thump Buddy is the 2.25" stinger bait. A White Hot Thump Buddy is all one thing. As for the spinner, I use them when casting and they work well. Use them in the same situations you would use a road runner head.
