Been fishing for the last few days at PK and have decided that stripers have trouble feeding in muddy water. If you stop and think about it, the Ocean is not muddy. Makes sense that stripers are sight feeders.
I've caught some excellent threadfins and fished them right in the middle of huge striper school but only caught a few. The ones I am catching are not in great shape. In the clear water in the past if I marked a school like this and dropped a threadfin in it I would be lucky to get a second rod in the water before I had a striper on. Now I need 3-4 poles down and slowly move around in a circle keeping the baits in the school. I think I almost need to hit a striper to get one to bite. Been catching a lot more magnum sandbass that seem to be running with these stripers. I think sandbass have no issues with muddy water. Amazing to see how large a shad those sandbass will take.
Perhaps the guides are doing better by fishing shallow and finding fish feeding on the surface. The upper 15 feet of the lake seem to be clearing while the deeper water still has a lot of muck in it per the Humminbird.
John 21:3 Simon Peter saith unto them, I go a fishing. They say unto him, We also go with thee.

Definitely seen a decline in the striper size the past few days. Catch a few dink stripes and good sandies

I went a little over a week ago and it was the muddiest I'd seen it. Bait was easy. I didn't find the fish until 9am. Which is typically when I'm headed in. They were not in the typical hot June for me, area. I had to go hunt 'em a little bit. Once I found them it was game on as usual.
