Last week I took my son, 14, to Naconiche. We left Wednesday morning at 3:30am and arrived at The Naconiche Retreat cabins at 6:30. Neither of us could hardly wait to get on the water! Our cabin was an efficiency cabin but honestly what more do you need?! We fished all morning, ate lunch on the water, storms rolled in around 2 so we got off the water and took a much needed nap lol
Went back out again and fished from 5 until dark. Grilled burgers as each cabin has a grill. Thursday morning we were up by 5:30am and back on the water. Fished until 10:30am and had to head home. This place was an absolute blast! The ONLY downside was the area to launch your kayak by the cabins was not good. If you go, make sure you have water shoes and plan on getting them very dirty lol OR you could haul your kayak to the actual boat launch. Id rather not do that though. The best fishing we found was right by the Cabins!

As for the fishing....day 1 I laid the smack down on the youngin! Id prefer he caught all the fish honestly but once I got them dialed in, I hammered em. The morning day 1 was slow just because we really werent sure, my first bass was a nice 4 pounder! That was fun! By late evening Wednesday I had caught several 2-3 pounders. Man Ill take that all day long! My son Caden caught a HUGE crappie. At last light I lost a what Id guess to be a 6-7 pounder right at the side of the kayak. He jumped (nearly in the kayak lol) and tossed my spinnerbait. He was big. My son last several that evening also.

Day 2 fishing Caden has his A game on. By himself, he out-fished me and 3 other bass boats that were hovering around us! He put on a clinic! It was so much fun to watch him. He ended up with 16 bass I think all around 2-4#.

Lures....spinnerbaits and whopper Ploppers. You can Texas rig but better peg your sinker and plan on losing lures because there are snags EVERYWHERE!

Man what a trip. Oh! In the evening and early morning the bass will bust on the shad and the water will be boiling with bass chasing shad. Its crazy! Given my coaching schedule and his athletic schedule we wont get back for a while but this place has officially been added to the list! lol. Stay at the Naconiche Retreat bring spinnerbaits and whopper ploppers and youll be set!
Ill try to attach some pictures.
