Has anyone carried their 75lb Labrador retriever on their kayak? I’m in a Hobie PA14 and it seems the only place she could be is on the live well area.

Does a dog that size affect stability?

The PA14 has a 600lb capacity. Several on this site have suggested that it's not wise to exceed 70% of the capacity... so, unless you and your gear exceed 345lbs, then your dog will fit while staying under a safe operating load.

The PA is very stable, so a dog moving around is unlikely to flip you. The larger question is will your dog get stir crazy while confined to the back of the yak? It seems pretty tight for an "active" 75lb dog...

I had a Pro Angler 12 and had my son (80 lbs) on a foam baby seat in the deck well. We were chasing sandbass by trolling jigs and casting to shooting fish. It worked well enough but he was only back there for a couple of hours. I would not want to do it in rough weather or with a young dog.
