So IMHO, for all intents and purposes the once fun, entertaining, and informative Austin Bass Fishing forum is now about 95% worthless. Only a ver few fisherman participate any longer and the forum itself is overrun with robotic spam messages that the administrators, bless their hearts, can't seem to control. The reasons for the forum going downhill are more than a few but that's all rear-view-mirror stuff.

One of my last posts there I mentioned that I was hanging out here, that there were more than a few fishermen from the Austin/CenTex area, and that the TFF wasn't all about Fork/RayBob/am Rayburn. And also there's a lot of good info about lakes/lures/rods/reels/boats/etc. here. One ABF'er wondered how many anglers from our area would show up here if a thread about our regional lakes was posted here. Lo and behold, he started a thread over on Open Freshwater Discussions. I posted there but I thought the thread might get more action if it was included here in Bass Fishing.

There was a lot of activity on ABF back in the day and exchange of good local information. I'm wondering how many CenTex anglers hang out here and are lurkers but don't post that frequently.

So John, have you been doing any good on Fayette? I'm thinking about camping out a night or two at the Best Western and hitting the lake early, without getting up at 3am to drive 105 miles.

Guys, Im an in and out of the game fisherman but just got back in the game - live in Round Rock. PM if someone wants to tag along with me (Ive got a new back seat open). I fish Decker primarily but will be hitting Bastrop and Fayette when I can.

And yes, I quit visiting ABF for the reasons mentioned above.

Geoff

I hate that it's true but I agree. It was once a pretty good forum.
