So, i have a few chicken breasts that i have not frozen like i planned when i bought them and have now been in my fridge for a while and im thinking of using them for bait on a fishing trip i have coming up starting tomorrow. My question for all of you is, does the adding vanilla to them and letting them marinate actually work? I think i read about that on here, but im not sure what the best thing to do with these chicken breasts would be. Any suggestions would be appreciated!!!!

Vanilla, liquid smoke, cherry cool aide or soda, garlic powder, onion powder, blood, put it all on it, put it in a glass jar, set it in the sun with a loose lid and let it ripen. If its to late for the sun, I would still add all of it you had on hand and shake it up really good and let it sit overnight. You probably dont have any blood so just add a little water and shake well. No need for water if you have some strawberry or cherry soda though. Good luck!!!

I've seen fresh chicken breast soaked in chicken blood (from a container of chicken livers) with garlic bulbs catch lots of channels and blues in a hurry.
You get out of it what you put into it!

I don't use anything on mine. But my situation is probably different than yours. You might try dredging them in pool salt right before putting the bait on the hook.

I like to soak them in Anise oil. You find it in the grocery store in the spices by the vanilla. It smells like licorice.

i typically marinate them in a homemade concoction, dust them in Chupacabra Rub or Reload Rub, then grill them until they have an internal temp of 165. it can be kind of tricky to not over cook it. You want it to still be juicy. Then I catch shad.

Have you ever compared fresh shad to chicken breast on that same day and seen the results? How many blues over 20-30lbs do you catch a year with a rod and reel?

I compared them on that same day 1 time. Drifted both chicken and fresh shad at the same time. Caught a few eaters on chicken, but the shad definitely out produced.

I dont have to fish for blue cats all the time to know that as a rule cut or live fish will always outfish some homemade concoction of chicken and vanilla. Blue cats eat fish every day, how often do they encounter chicken and vanilla in the lake?
