Fair price? Over in the Lake Lewisville area, want an 11 X 30 pad poured for my boat, quoted $4700, includes a 4 inch build up in the back 1/3 of the pad as the ground is not perfectly level.....should I get another bid? Usually get several bids but this guy does good work. Thanks in advance.

Homeguide says the usual price is $4 - $8 per square foot and your quote is $14.2 per square foot.

It's normally dependant on your argea. That doesn't sound like a bad price at all. I just had a 20x47 x 5" poured for around 7k in central Texas

The biggest thing I went with was trust in my contractor. I'm happy and won't have to worry about a fly by night company

If you have to ask then you probably should get another quote or two. If I was going to have our done I'd need a couple odd quotes to judge the price. I have no idea what a good or bad deal would be

Keep in the mind there is build up. That price is just showing up, set forms, tie steel and pour concrete. The additional level up work costs money.

Get another quote to compare but concrete work is just like buying fishing reels. Most of the time you get what you pay for.

That is a good price.
Your going to need right at about 8 yards of concrete if you pour a grade beam all the way around the perimeter. Last year a yard of concrete was going for around $150 per yard.
Your steel / rebar is going to cost you around $150 if you buy it from like a second hand source like someone off of craigslist.
I did my 20x30 slab last year and just the material cost was $2000 and that included the forms and a load of sand.
I set the forms, dug the ditch, did the grade work, and tied the steel.
I had 3 buddies help me pour it and screed it out and I finished it myself. - I use to do concrete work back in the summers in High School - and it kicked our [censored]!
I bought a bunch of beer and cooked lunch - no one stayed to drink beer with me, they all went home.

You would need:
11 x 30 = 330 sq ft.
4� slab would be 4 divided by 12 = .33
330 x .33 = 110 cubic ft
110 divided by 27 = 4.07 yards
1 ft x 1 ft beam slab perimeter = 3.04 yards.
Cost of concrete here is 208 per yard
208 x 8 = 1,664.00
Contractor to provide dirt work, forming, re-bar, brush finish and labor average here is 7.00 to 8.00 per sq ft.
330 x 8 = 2,640.00
2,640 + 1664 = 4,304.00 sounds fair to me.
Prices will vary...

I just poured 85 yards for my shop and driveway.. The bigger the footage the cheaper the price on labor..
Not cheap, but sure is nice to have...

I had a 27x25 4" thick pad poured in Denton about a year ago for $6 sq ft. No buildup, just set the forms, rebar and pour. They did the job in between larger jobs so I'm sure the price reflects that.

I had another job done at $8 sq ft with removal of old concrete, new pour was 4" thick with rebar. I believe this is his normal price and they do good work. But he built our entire patio with cover so.

My 30x50 shop pad at 6" was $5.25 sq ft. I paid separately for the dirt work on that project, was a bigger project that included leveling part of our yard and using that dirt to build up for the shop. That was an additional $2,000.

Since yours is a smaller job with some dirt work I'd think $10 a sq ft would be reasonable imo.

Price sounds pretty close to what I was going to pay. I also thought about doing my own. I worked on the concrete crew at the Rockwell plant on Renner in Richardson. It was my first summer out of college and fortunately was not involved in the upper floors. Most all of it was pumped. I talked the site manager in to letting me operate the loader and bulldozer so I eventually got out ot the concrete work. Our dozer operator was in to coke (not the liquid kind) and did not show up for work quite often. He only kept his job because he was one of the best dozer operators.
