Saw this on KXAN's website. My prayers are certainly with the family. For the rest of us it's a good reminder to check the weather before going out and have a way to receive weather warnings. Even when it's hot I always wear my PFD, I've turtled my kayak once, in 47 degree water. The PFD kept me afloat during that 30 second period my brain was processing why I lost my breath and my kayak is suddenly upside down.

Horrible!! Unfortunately this isn't the first time on this lake. It's all about education.

Odd that the kayak was not found. Prayers to the family and hopeful they can locate the kayaker so the family can have closure.

Who bets they were not wearing pfd? Sad as it may be its more irritating to me because a pfd is so easy to put on when you launch. What a shame.

She was in an inflatable craft of some kind.

Christian I'm pretty sure she wasn't wearing one. There was also at least an hour of really dark clouds and swirling winds then about a half hour lightning show that could be seen for miles before the storm and high winds hit. Plenty of notice to get off the water.

Horrible!

I know, we were on the water that same day and managed to get off in time.
