I certainly did not know you could catch rainbow or brown trout in Texas in the Summer. I managed to cash in a gift certificate I got from my family for a guided fly fishing trip in Austin with All Water Guides. This was over Memorial Day weekend on the Guadalupe River. I knew that Texas stocked trout in the Winter, but I figured that any that did not get picked up by the bucket-brigades, would have died off in mid March. Boy, was I wrong! We were fishing in waters where folks were tubing and we still caught some amazing fish. I got three (2 rainbows and 1 brown), and my younger brother got two (2 rainbows). They were all over 18" and made the fly reel scream. We had nymphs under a squirmy-worm, under a strike indicator and dropped it in the pool and deep pockets to drift. Anybody making it down Austin way, look up All Water Guides and ask for Judson Cole. He will put you on some fish. 2019-05-25 (1) by zenmic, on Flickr 2019-05-25 by zenmic, on Flickr

Very nice. I did the same back in March with a different guide and had a blast. Definitely gonna do it again. The striper action is said to be heating up so gonna hit that as well next month.
If you want to run with the big dogs you gotta get off the porch.
