So I had this same “quirk” or “issue” on my Fortrex I had forever. My Ultrex will not “unlock” from the run or deployed position unless I step or put weight on the trolling motor bracket. Just yanking the cable will not allow you to stow/raise the motor back up into the stowed position. The locking mechanism does not unlock when you yank the cord. I dealt with this same thing the whole time I had the Fortrex and kinda just got used to it.....but don’t like it. Anyone else?

I see the Pro's step on the head and pull on the cord simultaneously so I guess some are tighter than others, mine releases just fine. Don't know of an adjustment either but there has to be some way to fix that.

Twisted mount or support bar the wrong length.

If the support bar is the correct length, loosen the mount bolts so it works OK and shim the one that is causing the twist.

Have you tried greasing the two little plastic pieces that lock into place? Might help.

It’s too bad they built the ultrex on the fortrex mount, they are junk. Those bushing are constantly a problem. Good luck.

You might try making sure the support bar is short enough to allow it to come down enough to lock
Mine was doing same thing after 3 days rough water on Rayburn and that's all it was, the black nut on the bar came loose and it adjusted the height of the head of the TM in the stowed position.

The guys you see stepping on them to unlock are usually the Motorguides, that's how I used to have to mine

The bolts in the mount take a beating and will need tightened. It happens on all brands. If the mount is not level it gets tweaked and then is hard to lift etc.. You’ll need to get a wrench inside the hull to hold the nut. A screwdriver from the top won’t be enough.

My Fortrex needs lubricating about twice a year . I just use garage door lubricant. It sets close to the boat in the garage .

I’ve already had the lock mechanism replaced under warranty on mine. It broke on the third time on the first outing !! Needless to say I was not happy. Just put the damn thing on and have to turn around and take it off.

I apply the same on all moving parts.
