What do the olds do when you get to the point of retirement and what you want is different than what she wants. Basically I want to retire to the country and she cant get enough of living in the the total cluster of DFW. Ive had it with the cluster and cant stand it anymore. She wants nothing to do with country life. I need some advice.

That has also been in the equation.

What about just being kind of in between? Far enough out that you have space and your peace and quiet but close enough for her to do her city life things.

My friend's parents live out in Wylie. They are definitely not "out in the country" but have a half acre with plenty of space. It kind of has that in between feel.

Wife and I settled this long time ago. Planning for retirement is a long term decision
Good luck.

I think living in a smaller city like Mineola, Mt. Pleasant or Lindale might be an option. Better than the alternative. All 3 are within minutes of Tyler which is now big city.

Sorry to hear this...we got on the same page many years ago and moved to the country with the plans to retire here.
Nothing has changed that and it is reinforced every time we have to drive thru DFW.
We can be to FW in 30 minutes which is plenty close for us.

I'd come up with some middle of the road area like it has been said. Not worth losing your wife over some traffic.

You stated why you want to live in the country, but what makes her want to stay in the city?

It depends on the situations. Splitting the sheets can be costly.
