Holy goodness. What do I need to do to make this work? I'm 5'11" and 230. Relatively fit arms and legs - just hold an extra 40 lbs in my gut. I think a good diet is what I need since I'm very active - it's no trouble at all for me to hit 10k steps per day.

What is the keto diet in a nutshell. I've obviously heard of it, but don't know much about it.

Keto diet is high fat, some protein, low carb diet. It forces the body to burn fat rather can burn carbs. Its a very hard diet for me to stay with. Im eating what I want but in a lot lower doses.

My goal is to continue high step counts and eat at the right time with smaller helpings. Im trying not to eat anything after 6pm. Basically, my lifestyle change is to burn more calories than what I am consuming. My weight is 233 now and Im 511. We may be twins. Ill post occasionally when I see weight loss, but I know if I keep a high step count, exercise, and eat right.....itll come off slow. I want to get down to 220 and I havent been there in close to 20 years. First things, first. Good Luck!

All good info, thanks!

The eat right is where I struggle...I'll try to post here occasionally.

Unfortunately, I started a healthy wager bet a few months ago and have only lost 7 lbs since then. Started at 237, currently at 230, need to get to 200 to win my bet (it's a good bit of $ that I'll be winning or losing).

So it's not really an option for me to fail.

What type of resources are available for this keto thing? To know what foods I can and can't eat if I decide to try that?

I'm not for sure but I reached out to jbassman to see if he would share his resources on keto. Hang in there. You can do it. Most importantly, do not go to bed on a full stomach. In order to lose weight, unfortunately, there has to be times where you will be hungry, period.

If you want to know more about Keto, check out DrKenBerryMD on YouTube. Hes not out to sell any pills, potions or supplements. Has great videos and posts new stuff regularly.

Anything online has pros and cons. No one agrees on anything these days. After weeks of study and research online, I decided to put all my eggs in his basket and I just do what he says and recommends.

Also, MyFitnessPal is a great tool. Enter the food you plan to eat before a meal and then check the macros. You should be 70 percent fat, 20 percent protein and 10 percent carbs. The trick is to get enough healthy fat each day. Youll find all kinds of fat bomb recipes online to help with this if you dont get enough in your regular meals.

Here is a great one to start with

I hear you. For some of us, that struggle is real.

3 scrambled eggs, shred some cheese of your choice (dont buy pre shredded) 3-4 pieces of bacon along with a half an avacado
and you have a perfect keto breakfast

Lunch can be fish or steak of your choise cooked,in olive oil with a handful of veggies (see video on 7 veggies you can eat unlimited quantities in Keto) sauted in butter with Gerrygold butter.

And for the record, if Keto is done correctly you will never fill hungry. Hunger comes from a drop in insulin and our standard diet replenishes that thru carbs.

Drop the carbs and you have no insulin spikes. No insulin spikes mean steady, sustainable energy, and remember, once your in Ketosis your/body burns your onboard steady supply of fat cells for energy, not the. 4-5 meals that trigger epinsulin, spikes to produce energy,

The first days I peed like crazy, then the inflammation went away and with it all the aches and, pains in hands, knees ankle and feet

Nice, KD.....thanks for sharing. Sounds like youve got it figured out. We will periodically check in with each other and the rest of the folks on weight loss, step counts, healthier living, etc, etc. Im posting my step count totals once a week, on Sundays. Gonna be tough this week. Im in Colo Springs now and pick up my bride at DIA tonight. I plan to find a few other things to do besides eat healthy and exercise. We gonna live until Sun, and then it will be back to the grind.
