Put the tube on Athens today. Hit my regular spots and a few new ones. Took a lot of fish like this one.

At one of the new spots I found a pod of much better fish.

And then I got a monster! This is the best gill I have taken. It was 12 and a half inches long and weighed at least a pound and a quarter. Pretty sure it would break the lake record but I turned it loose to keep the genes in the lake.

After I ran out of crawlers I tied on Bobby Garland and looked for some crappie but I got interrupted by these things

All fish were released to fight another day. Life is good here in East Tx. Cheers Y'All!

Flags...You really put the hurt on those bad boys...that third gil is a giant. I like to throw back the big ones as well. In fact, have gotten into the habit of just keeping the hook swallowers that would die anyway...

Side Note: If you ever catch a super Bluegill or any other sunfish that has a length of 10" or better, you can apply for a Catch&Release record. cheers Again super fish. coolio

I think I could do that just about everyday on Athens. Sadly I only have about 5 more chances to fish Athens until I head to Amarillo. Somebody else will have to catch them in my stead.

You will have to entertain us with walleye photos once you move. And there are big sunfish in lakes not too far north of Amarillo.

Good luck on your new assignment. Living in northwest Texas after east Texas may be a culture shock, but I am sure you will enjoy the experience.
