Decided to bite the bullet and buy the Ultrex. For you guys that have a 191 Legend , what shaft length and thrust are you comfortable with? I currently have a 24 v, 45", 74# MK, but it doesn't seem to hold well in really windy conditions. Have any of you gone to a 36v 101#? Do the Ultrex 24v/80# motors hold well enough in strong winds and bigger water?

You can always turn the power down with a 101 but not up with an 80

Id go with the Ultrex 112 with a 52 inch shaft. The longer shaft will help hold your boat in really windy conditions. The 112 will also have more thrust (obviously) but will also be more efficient on batteries. Like posted above, better to have the extra thrust and not need it than need it and not have it.

As long as you have the space for the extra battery absolutely a 36v 52 shaft.

I would hold out for a couple of months and buy the best one on the market.

Meaning there will supposedly be up to 5 different brands to chose from in the very near future, hopefully at Icast. A lot of really interesting buzz about a couple of them.

Do you really want to be the guy with the first gen Lowrance, Garmin, etc? I sure don't.

The problem with the 52" shaft on the 112 Ultrex will be storing that thing on a smaller boat. Of course you'll love the power and the shaft length but it all comes at a cost.

If you haven't bought one yet, feel free to PM me for my prices on Ultrex. I can have them overnighted for free on models I have in stock.

Nothing wrong with having the latest greatest. My Ultrex is over two years old. When its time for a change, Im gonna consider the Lowrance. As long as its feature for feature and priced competitively. All you do by waiting, is go without.

If you wait until they all come out, from what I've heard you won't have to decide between a 24 or 36 volt. Let that sink in for a minute. You can run 24 volts and if you decide it's enough power for your boat, you're hauling around one less battery. If it's not enough thrust, add a battery.

The 52 mount is a monster. I would not buy a 52 if you really dont need it.

I loved my 52 on my phoenix but after going to lithium batteries my bow is lower and I just cut it down to a 45 today and changed the mount.

Thats not new. Years ago, trolling motors use to be 12/24.

Do you have room for the 4th battery and will you be upset if you lose some performance with the added weight?

The Ultrex will weigh more than your current one and as mentioned the longer shaft will harder to store if you keep your Legend covered. cheers
