Please tell your fathers and others that you love them. I lost both my mom and my dad, sepearte years, but it hurts, whenever someone is saying hi to THEIR personally. Sorry to bring a bad thought to the pages, but I WISH I had my parents alive to tell them how I feel. If I can get ONE someone to say HIDEE to their parents. I know, it is a silly thing, but I hope everyone understands how important their parents are. Getting off my soap box now.

Respectfully.

Thad Rains

Tight lines, keep safe and good luck.

Thad, not a silly thing at all. I lost both my parents only a year apart (2015-2016). The people and things we take for granted until they are gone. I'm thankful I spent a lot of time visiting them both their final few years near lake Sam Rayburn.

I just messaged my mom to tell her I love her and thank her for raising me. Thanks for the reminder Thad. I appreciate the nudge.

When I bought my Dad a Father’s Day gift last year I was convinced it would be my last. Sadly he was gone less than two months later. Your words are wise. Appreciate what and who you have today. Tomorrow is never promised.

I lost my dad to cancer in 1974 when I was 9. My mom is still alive.. I wish I would have be able to get to know my dad. The only thing I ask God was to let me see my kids grow up. My oldest son is my fishing partner and I love every minute of it. My dad got me into fishing and I thank him for that. Live everyday ike it is your last..

Thanks for the reminder. We sometimes let things we think more important get in the way.....

Good advice Thad. With my dad pushing 80 and his health in decline, I treat every time we get to fish together as our last. One day it will be, but until then we will continue his quest for the elusive 10 pounder. fish

Did you ask her to buy you a few Cowboys tix this year, too? Then, you know you're truly loved.....

My mom passed in her living room after being on hospice for 4 days in 2011. She lived 50 yards from me for 15 years since her retirement. I was only able to tear down the porches and move her trailer out last year. There is a huge hole in my heart and I'm waiting to see her again.

My dad died 4 years ago. Not nearly as close to him but our relationship had grown in the latter years. Lost one of my 2 sisters 5 years ago. It is a strange lonely feeling as sister #1 retired to our land in East Tennessee.

Dad gone in 1990, Mom in 2012. Losing both parents changes you inside, at least it did me. I felt like i lost a strong support system even though i never really relied on them for anything once i left the nest.

My folks are celebrating their 67th wedding anniversary today. Dad is 92 and Mom is 89. I will be calling them for sure.
